Mantle rocks |
| Rocks from the Upper Mantle are predominantly
peridotites and pyroxenites. The rocks are found as
core-complexes in the ocanic lithosphere and ophiolites as
well as inclusions in mantle derived alkali-basalts and
kimberlites. When exposed at the Earth's surface, mantle
rocks hydrate easily to form serpentinite and talc. |
